PURPOSE
To collect, preserve, and provide access to papers, unpublished documents, and electronic resources relevant to tobacco control issues.

Paper and Media Collections
The paper and media collections include organizational records of agencies and activist groups, as well as papers of individuals active in tobacco control. These collections are available for reference use at the UCSF Library's Archives & Special Collections department. Guides to the collections are available online.

Legacy Tobacco Documents Library (LTDL)
Search, view, and download more than 7 million documents concerning scientific research, manufacturing, marketing, advertising, and sales of cigarettes. Sponsored by the American Legacy Foundation. Includes the following:

UCSF Brown & Williamson Collection
Thousands of pages of documents from the Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation were donated unsolicited to the UCSF Tobacco Control Archives in 1994. These documents consist primarily of scientific studies on the addictive nature of nicotine and other health effects of tobacco smoke.

Joe Camel Collection (Mangini v. R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company)
80,000 pages (4,000 documents) selected for use in a suit San Francisco attorney Janet C. Mangini brought forth to end the Joe Camel advertising campaign. Access the 1998 report "A Review of R.J. Reynolds' Internal Documents Produced in Mangini vs. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company."

California's Tobacco Propositions
These documents provide insight into the tobacco industry's plans to fight local clean air initiatives, weaken enforcement of California's 1995 smoke-free workplace legislation, and undermine the California tobacco control program.
British American Tobacco Documents Archive (BATDA)
A full-text digital archive of British American Tobacco Company documents. BATDA will eventually hold 5-6 million pages.
British American Tobacco Company Documents (BATCO)
A subject-indexed collection of 17,250 documents from the Guildford Depository in Guildford, England. Contains some documents not in the British American Tobacco Documents Archive (BATDA).
