Since 1992, BATCo's IFB's have been allocated to one of our two global network agencies. In addition, various regional and national brands have also been transferred to these agencies. Behind this agency brand allocation are the two objectives of obtaining a higher standard and consistency of service, and achieving better value for money. The remuneration of both agencies follows a global agreement which significantly reduces the commission payable when compared with the pre 1992 situation and with other agencies used by BATCo. Although the brand allocation was focused initially on above the line media, it now extends to include most of the below the line communication also. Both these transfers %rill be dependent upon the receiving agency demonstrating their ability to manage the brands effectively. .-idso during 1995, GREY will progressively take on more business throughout Africa as they have recently been appointed as BATCo's lead agency in this continent. The timing and nature of this is the key subject for discussion at an African regional conference in February 1995. Beyond BATCo, the other BAT tobacco companies also do business with BATES and GREY viz: BATCF They use Grey in Germany for media purchasing. B&W They use Grey in the US domestic market for all major brands. Imperial They use Bates for all major brands in Canada. Souza Cruz They use Ogilvy & Mather and several local agencies. Kind regards.
