UCSF/UC Computing Resources

Purpose

A collection of useful computing links to UCSF campus technology resources. Please note that the sites listed below are not maintained by or affiliated with the Library.

Services

  • mail@UCSF
Access your Exhange email account via Outlook Web Access.
  • Office of Admission and Registrar Online Services
UCSF students must file study lists with the Registrar quarterly. This process is now handled electronically through the Web.
  • UCSF University Store
Students are eligible to receive academic pricing for medical or academic software only through the store. Academic pricing is often as low as 50% of the normal retail price.
  • UCSF Technology Store
Apple Macintosh and Dell computers are available from the UCSF Technology Store, generally at a discounted price in comparison to other sales channels. The store also carries peripherals, personal digital assistants (PDAs), accessories, and academically-priced productivity software.
  • Virtual Private Network (VPN)
To access the UCSF network from off-campus you will need to install and configure your machine to use VPN software.

Support

  • Office of Academic and Administrative Information Systems (OAAIS)
OAAIS, formerly ITS, provides high quality, innovative, and cost-effective, enterprise-wide information services and technologies.
  • Software Licenses
Information about software UCSF licenses in volume by special agreement with the manufacturer. Sophos Antivirus will be of particular interest; most other software listed is available only for installation on UCSF-owned computers.

Policies

  • Computing Policies
The UC-wide electronic communications policy and web policy are available here.

Training

  • Computer Application Training
UCSF Human Resources Development & Training offers general computer skills training to UCSF staff. Note that students may not enroll in these training courses.
