Troubleshooting

Get information on issues that may arise when using GALEN Toolbars (beta).

Internet Explorer 8 - Possible Incompatibility

We have had reports of the toolbars causing IE8 to malfunction, specifically with Windows Vista. We are still investigating this issue. If you experience problems with IE8 -- for example, you cannot right-click on links -- please uninstall your toolbar.

Admin Rights Necessary to Install IE Toolbars

It is necessary to have Administrative rights in order to install the IE toolbars. If you are having trouble installing a toolbar, check to see that you have Administrative rights on the computer you are using.

Alert Window Pops Up Repeatedly

Versions of the toolbars that were available on October 2-3, 2007, have a bug that causes an alert window to repeatedly appear. In response, we reinstated the previous versions of the toolbars.

If you are experiencing problems, please uninstall your current toolbar. Then reinstall the toolbar.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Internet Explorer 7 Compatibility

Older versions of the GALEN Toolbar and Clinician's Toolbar are not compatible with Internet Explorer 7.  Toolbar versions 1.8+ are compatible.

If you are using IE 7 with a UCSF Library Toolbar and notice your browser freezing or closing, you should upgrade to the latest toolbar.

First, uninstall any existing library toolbars:

An older toolbar may be hidden. Look for hidden toolbars under the Tools menu. Check any hidden UCSF Library toolbars to display them, then uninstall:

Install a current toolbar for Internet Explorer.

Uninstalling Toolbars

Uninstall IE Toolbars by clicking the "Uninstall" button on the toolbar.

You can easily uninstall Firefox Toolbars by going to Tools -> Add Ons.

VPN Access with Toolbars

Use the Network Connect option of VPN@UCSF Services when using your Toolbar off campus.
