[Scholarly Communication] 

The University of California is considering a Draft Open Access Policy (PDF) designed to increase worldwide access to UC faculty work. This policy requires faculty authors to grant the University permission to disseminate an open access copy of their work. The policy also includes an author's addendum to help authors retain the rights they need to authorize open access.

To help the UC community understand and contribute to the review of the policy, the Office of Scholarly Communication (OSC) has collaborated with policy framers to provide answers to some frequently asked questions. Campuses are currently reviewing the draft policy and will be responding to the Office of the President by May 11.
