24-Hour Access Procedures
PURPOSE
Policy and procedures for enabling 24-hour access to the Genentech Hall study space.

The Genentech Hall study space (Room 227) provides 24-hour access to faculty, staff, and students who have proxy card access to Genentech Hall. You must register with the library to obtain 24-hour access to Room 227.

1. To obtain 24-hour access to the Genentech Hall study space, you must have a UCSF proximity ID Card and a valid UCSF Library Borrower Account.

2. Your UCSF ID must be a Proximity (Proxy) ID Badge with access to Genentech Hall. Personnel who want 24-hour access to the Genentech Hall study space should consult with their department on how to obtain a Proxy ID Badge and how to activate the badge for access to Genentech Hall. Information on Proxy ID Badges is available from the UCSF Police Department.

3. Print out, read, and complete the 24-Hour Library Access Agreement (PDF), and then sign. The UCSF Library expects all personnel and students using the Genentech Hall study space after hours to abide by the code of conduct outlined in this policy. Note that Proxy ID Badges enable the university to monitor who has entered the study space and at what time.

4. Return the completed form in person to the Circulation Desk in the Library at the Community Center, room 150, during open hours. Bring your campus ID with you.

It takes approximately 48 hours for the Genentech Hall study space door to be added to your Proxy ID Badge. You can test access by using your Proxy ID Badge on the library door after hours or on the weekend.
