The UCSF Library and Center for Knowledge Management seeks applications from qualified individuals for the position of Software Developer, classified as a Programmer/Analyst II.

This position is part of the Library/CKM’s Applications Group, which is responsible for Library software (both commercial and custom-developed) running on a variety of servers and workstations; the Applications Group consists of five programmers who actively develop software and services of use to the Library, the University and its patrons; the incumbent’s duties are to provide support and development for the Library’s FileMaker Pro applications, including finance and billing; administer RT and Track-It issue tracking systems; act as a technical liaison and provide backup support for the Library’s Millennium/Innopac system administrator; develop graphical layouts for Web sites; program scripts and utilities for Library data operations; general desktop support as required; the position will also assist in larger projects, such as migration to a new desktop calendaring application; and perform other duties as assigned.

Two to three years of experience with at least two programming languages (Perl, Python, Java, C++, or PHP); three years of experience with Unix systems (Linux, Solaris); experience with the software development lifecycle (specification, analysis, design, implementation, testing, maintenance); experience with RDBMS and SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL); experience with HTML, CSS and associated tools (Dreamweaver, etc.); experience developing FileMaker Pro applications; excellent verbal and written communication skills; position requires intermittent bending, squatting, climbing stairs, pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds, reaching above shoulder level, sitting, standing, walking, carrying/lifting 21-30 pounds, gripping/grasping, repetitive movements of upper extremities.

Library experience; academic experience.

Classified as a Programmer/Analyst II, $5,425 - $8,933 per month, full time rate. Starting salary usually in the lower end of the range depending on experience and qualifications. This is a career position with an excellent package of health, vacation, and retirement benefits.
