Information for other libraries about obtaining journal articles, books, and other materials owned by the UCSF Library.
 
Services are for NON-University of California LIBRARIES.
Loans and photocopies are unavailable to individuals.

About Interlibrary Loan
The Interlibrary Lending Service (ILL) provides access to the extensive holdings of health sciences materials at the UCSF Library to Regional Medical Network Libraries, libraries in California, and other US, Canadian, and international libraries.
 
RUSH service is only available for Patient Care Emergency requests. There are fees for each request.
 
Materials unavailable for Interlibrary Loan include:
Non-Circulating Materials from Special Collections, Reference, Journals, Reserve, some Microformat, Archives, AV, Video, Dissertations (unless microfiche available), Theses.
 
Instructions
Check the Library Catalog at http://ucsfcat.library.ucsf.edu/ before placing requests.
- Submission of ILL Requests: OCLC or Docline are the preferred methods of submission. ILL requests must be submitted via mail, fax, or ARIEL to the address/numbers listed below.
- Telephone and email requests are NOT accepted.
- Mail Requests: Send the typed standard ALA or IFLA form to the address below. Mail requests will not be accepted unless typed on an ALA or IFLA form and must be accompanied by a copyright declaration.
- Fax Requests: Fax the typed ALA or IFLA form to the fax number listed below. One title per request form only. Fax requests will not be accepted unless typed on an ALA or IFLA form and accompanied by a copyright declaration.
- ARIEL: ARIEL the typed ALA or IFLA form to the ARIEL address listed below.
- Loan Period: The loan period is 2 weeks (from receipt of materials).
- Billing Policy: ILLs are invoiced monthly; payment is due on receipt of invoice. Credit cards are accepted (VISA, MC, Discovery, AMEX).

Delivery
Journal articles are shipped 1st Class Mail; Books are shipped 4th Class Book Rate. ARIEL and fax delivery options are available.
 
Liability
The borrowing library is financially responsible for damage to or loss of a book from the time the book is received at the borrowing library to the time it is received back by the UCSF Library.
