PURPOSE
Obtain journal articles owned at UCSF for a fee.
 
ABOUT DOCUMENT EXPRESS
Document Express is the fee-based document delivery service for journal articles from the UCSF Library collection. UCSF faculty, students, and staff with a current library borrowing account are eligible for the service. The Library offers NO rush services. Most articles are delivered within 2 working days of your request. Entire journal issues cannot be obtained via Document Express.
 
To obtain materials not owned at UCSF, use Interlibrary Borrowing.

How to Place Requests for Journal Articles

UC-eLinks
In many databases, including PubMed, you can use UC-eLinks to order journal articles owned by the UCSF Library, directly from your search. Choose the link, "For interlibrary loan or document delivery use Request."
 
This is not the preferred method of requesting journal articles. Use the Document Express form only when you are not able to complete the request using UC-eLinks.
Please enter only one journal article per request form. Entire journal issues cannot be obtained via Document Express.
 
Receiving Requested Materials
The UCSF Library does not provide Rush service.
 
Articles
- Most articles are received within 2 working days.
- The Library will email you a web address where you can download your article in PDF format using Adobe Acrobat Reader.
 
Fees
- You will be charged a $0.25 per page fee with a minimum fee of $1.
- You will receive a billing statement at the end of the month in which your request is filled.
 
Who Is Eligible?
You must be a UCSF staff, student or faculty member and have a current Library Borrower Account to place Document Express requests.
- Bring your UCSF Campus Wide picture ID (CWID) to the circulation desk at the Parnassus Library or the Library at the Community Center to register for library borrowing privileges.
- The 14 digit barcode number, located on your CWID, which begins with 21378..., is the number you will use to place Document Express requests.
