Getting Started for Students
Find Materials
- Search the UCSF Library Catalog for the book or journal you need.
- Locate specific articles using PubMed@UCSF or other databases.
- Search several top sources at once with UCSF Cross-Database Search.
- Browse or search the online journals collection.
- Explore collections of resources on specific subjects.
- Check the Melvyl Catalog to see if another UC Library owns a particular item.
Get Materials
- Access library resources from home.
- Link to full-text articles through PubMed@UCSF or other databases.
- Link to online textbooks through MD Consult, AccessMedicine, Stat!Ref - Medical, or Stat!Ref - Nursing and Dental.
- Check out materials from the Library with your UCSF Campus ID Card.
- Photocopy materials using a library copy card.
- Have an article emailed to you through the document delivery service.
- Request a book or journal article from another library with your Borrower Account.
Visit the Library
- Check library hours and get directions to the Parnassus Campus Library or the Mission Bay Library.
- Hold a study session in a group study room.
- Take a free class to improve your research skills.

Use Computers in the Libraries

- Borrow a laptop for use in the Library.
