ILC Classroom Policies
PURPOSE
A guide to policies regarding use of ILC classrooms.
1. Scheduling
2. Orientation
3. Installing Software and Data Files
4. Food and Drink
5. Scheduling Etiquette
Please be considerate of instructors who are using the classroom before or after you. Start and end your class on time. If discussions run over your scheduled time, move them out of the classroom so the next instructor may set up their class. 6. Class Cancellation
7. Special Services
Fees for classroom use cover the classroom facilities as currently equipped. This fee covers one hour of basic set-up and preparation services for every ten hours the classroom is reserved. Should a class require additional set-up time, such as installation of software not available in the classroom, the Library will provide these services for an additional fee of $20.00 per hour. When these services are required for academic instruction, the costs will be covered by Instructional Use of Computing (IUC) funds. Special services for non-academic use will be charged to departments or clients. The guidelines for these special services are as follows: - Installation of software and datasets must be performed by ILC staff. Customers may not install software or datasets on the classroom computers themselves. - The ILC staff will not install software that will conflict with the basic configuration in the classrooms, e.g. we will not install a different version of the operating system to accommodate a class. The ILC will not install a different version of software, if doing so will disable the currently installed version. Whenever possible, the ILC is committed to making the latest versions of software available in the classrooms. - When requesting software installation, the customer must provide the Library with an adequate number of software licenses to cover the needs of the class, e.g. ten students, eleven licenses which includes the instructor's computer. Software media or download instructions and licenses must be received by the ILC staff four (4) weeks prior to the date of the class in order to guarantee its availability for the scheduled class. 8. Housekeeping
The ILC does not have staff to clean up the classrooms. When a class is finished, instructors are required to do the following: 1. Turn off projection units.
2. Clean whiteboards.
3. Remove extra teaching materials.
4. Return chairs to proper place at each computer station.
5. Report any problems and include description of hardware, software, and facility.
6. Turn off lights.
7. CLOSE THE DOOR AND MAKE SURE IT LOCKS BEHIND YOU.
